Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.

Dr Pugh and staff was warm and friendly. Almost painless and over before I knew it. I didn’t even have much pain after I returned home and 2 Tylenol did the trick. Also no soreness the next day. There was a small hiccup about meds but was fixed quickly. I would definitely recommend Athens Endodontics for Root Canal Surgery.

Dr. Pugh is the best of the best! He is the only endodontist whose knowledge and expertise l trust. I am so grateful for his professionalism, skill, honesty and kindness. Also, his assistant, Chelsea was very kind and friendly. The staff was polite and highly efficient as well. I would highly recommend Athens Endodontics, especially Dr. Pugh, to anyone needing a root canal. Thank you so much, once again!

The most turnkey and seamless experience I have ever had at a dental office. A very special mention to Regina, Sam, and of course Dr. Pugh. As a craftsman it was very easy to notice that Dr. Pugh is extremely conscientiousness and no doubt a profectionist. THAT shows caring, and that is where the rubber meets the road! As meticulous as he is, he is also efficient, productive, and personable. A talented, interesting and good man!

Exceptional Honesty and Service Yesterday, I had a tooth go bad and went to my regular dentist. They immediately referred me to Athens Endodontics for a root canal. I showed up with no appointment and knew I was being worked in on very short notice. After a short wait, they provided me with the full cost upfront—no hidden fees or surprises—which I really appreciated. Once I agreed, they got me back quickly for X-rays. After reviewing everything, Dr. Pugh came in and was completely straightforward with me. He explained that my tooth was actually broken and that doing a root canal would only be a short-term fix for a bigger issue. Instead of pushing unnecessary work, he took the time to explain the situation honestly. He gave me injections to help numb the pain and then sent me back to my regular dentist—and didn’t charge me a single dollar for any of it. I’ve never experienced this level of honesty and integrity in a dental office. They could have easily performed the procedure and charged me, but instead they chose to do what was right. Absolutely one hell of a great place. 100% recommend if you want a straightforward, no-nonsense approach and people who genuinely care.
